Turning Tired Lift Stations into Modern Reliable Lift Stations
Lift stations do a lot of heavy lifting in a wastewater system. Because of their important role, having the best reliable technology will save operators from a lot of stress. Meet our solution.
Station Controller SC2000
In your lift station upgrade, we will use the SC2000 Station Controller. Designed and produced solely within the United States, Motor Protection Electronics (MPE) makes this controller with optimal lift station use always in mind. The interface offers the user an intuitive experience, with options logically laid out and easily accessible. The SC2000 operates the pumps based on the setup values and the wet well level signal. It alternates the pumps, performs lag pump delays, and provides high and low level alarms. The SC2000 has a variety of control options available in the setup menu that may be used to customize the controller for a specific application. Optional I/O is available for VFD speed control and for additional telemetry inputs. The SC2000 also includes wetwell wash cycle and flow calculator features.
The SC2000 can be easily integrated into your telemetry system. It eliminates the need for an external RTU, as the SC2000 is data-ready. Additionally, the controller now comes with ethernet capablities built-in and standard. This controller is used in SCADA systems across the country, from small single station systems to systems with more than eighty lift stations. While the systems may vary dramatically in size, the reliablity and user-friendly features make the SC2000 preferralby.
Besides working in systems of all sizes, MPE makes controllers for use in lift stations of all sizes. The SC2000 is designed for lift stations that have up to four pumps, while the SC1000 allows for up to two pumps.
Submersible Pressure Transducer
The SC2000 receives the wet well levels from the submersible pressure transducer. The controller receives the levels from the transducer via a 4-20 milliamp signal.
Pressure transducers sit in the bottom of your wet well and use the water pressure to read the levels. Most units are vented to the atmosphere. As water level increases, the pressure on the flexible diaphram increases. As the pressure of the flexible diaphram increases, the transducer sends the controller a signal, letting the controller know what the level of the wet well is. Once the levels reach the level that has been selected in the controller options, the controller turns on the pumps in order to lower the levels.
Traditionally, there are mulitple level sensing options for lift station controls. Float switches, bubbler systems, ultrasonic transducers, and level probes are alternative options to the pressure transducer. However the pressure tranducer offers important advantages over these alternative systems. Pressure trandsucers are remarkably rugged, and can function perfectly in even the most difficult lift stations. While other systems have great difficulty with build ups of hair and grease, the pressure transducer can handle these less than perfect environments. The pressure transducers are also very easy to install, and most operators can replace themselves in the event that replacement is necessary. Finally, pressure transducers are very accurate, one of the most accurate level sensing option for lift station controls.
Back Up Controls
While the SC2000 and the pressure transducer are going to give you your most reliable and accurate service, it would be irrational not to prepare for their failure. In this case, we have you covered with a proven back up control system. By utilizing high level and low level float switches, fully independent from the controller, it is ensured that the lift station will operate even if the controller and transducer are not fuctional.
