Have you ever heard of TED? TED is a nonprofit that is dedicated to spreading ideas worth spreading. It started out with conferences, and now it puts the best talks and performances from TED conferences online for free access for everyone. In this talk, Jonathan Trent talks about his research in developing a system that grows micro-algae in wastewater for the purpose of harvesting the micro-algae for biofuel. The idea is fully fleshed out in the short 15 minute talk below, and I really recommend it to anyone interested in wastewater treatment, the future of fuel, or marine biology. Afterwards, if you have time, check out the comments below the talk on the TED website here. It's so refreshing to see ideas being discussed in a comment section online, with arguments for and against the idea, in a civilized and informed manner.
