Nekoosa and Port Edwards did a fantastic job hosting the North Central Operators' Meeting on September 14. The Community Center is a beautiful new venue that Nekoosa can be very proud of, and it was filled with operators and vendors. I really enjoyed listening to the presentations and learning about different projects going on around the state. It is always refreshing to see all of the different unique solutions generated to problems facing wastewater treatment, such as Plainfield's using their effluent for crop irrigation. During the business meeting, I was pleasantly surprised to be elected to the Steering Committee for the region, and I look forward to working with them. The lunch was homemade by the Nekoosa Mayor's wife and absolutely fantastic. A word of advice to future hosts that will never fail - finding a few women who know how to cook makes for a really great meeting lunch. During lunch, I enjoyed giving the Nekoosa guys a hard time about the prospects for their high school sports this year. I had some great conversations and overall the North Central District meeting was a very worthwhile way to spend the day.
